Curriculum

Statutory Requirement

In Reception we teach the Statutory Framework for The Early Years Foundation Stage.  The seven areas of learning and development are delivered through a wide variety of well structured play based activities, including regular use of our fantastic outdoor learning environment.

In Key Stages 1 and 2 we teach the National Curriculum.  We follow the programmes of study and use the attainment targets for all subjects in both Key Stages.

Our RE curriculum is based on the Lincolnshire Agreed Syllabus.

Our School Curriculum

We offer all children a broad and balanced curriculum, using a variety of teaching and learning strategies to support the learning needs of all children.  We pride ourselves on ensuring that our curriculum is exciting and engaging, whilst also being relevant to our pupils.

Phonics

In KS1 Phonics is taught in line with the Letters & Sounds framework, and this is mainly delivered using The Jolly Phonics synthetic phonics programme.

Reading

A wide range of of reading scheme and 'real' books are used to teach reading throughout the school.  The reading schemes used include Oxford Reading Tree, Collins Big Cats, Jelly and Bean and Rigby Star.  Once pupils have learned to read with some fluency they are encouraged to read 'real' books at an appropriate level.

Curriculum Enrichment

During the year we have many themed days and visits to enhance and enrich the curriculum, providing the children with first hand practical experiences.  Please visit our gallery pages to view some examples of these. In order to develop a rich, and themed, curriculum we use the Cornerstones curriculum.

For more information about the curriculum please contact the school.
